The American Arena League and it's CEO Tony Zefiretto is pleased to announce the creation of an AAL Northern Division which will cover the east coast states of West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. AAL President Jack Bowman stated, “One of the league’s goals is to limit long-distance travel. The AAL North is a product of this commitment. To limit travel, teams will be scheduled to play within their division”. The key to forming the AAL North was the return of two established teams. To round out this division, the AAL is still in discussions with established teams and expansion teams.

The AAL Northern Division will consist of two returning AAL teams; the New Jersey Flight and the West Virginia Roughriders. The Roughriders were the 2017 league champions and played in the 2018 AAL championship game. The division will be rounded out with two new AAL teams.
In 2018, owner Cynthia Hudson led the New England Bobcats to a championship within their league. This season, the Bobcats football operations will be led by respected long-time arena Head Coach, Julien Robinson.

The AAL is also excited to announce a new expansion team, the Pittsburgh Defenders. The Defenders are owned by touring hip-hop artist, Antjuan “Tjuan Benafactor” Washington, and former arena player, Arealius Lee.

The AAL Southern Division consists of eight teams to include seven returning AAL teams the; High Country Grizzlies, Charlotte Energy, Cape Fear Heroes, Carolina Havoc, Peach State Cats, Georgia Doom, and Carolina Cowboys. They are joined by the expansion, South Carolina Predators.

The league also announced the home dates for all teams. The Havoc will begin their 2019 home slate against their rivals from Fayetteville, North Carolina, the Cape Fear Heroes on Friday, March 15, 2019, at The Den starting at 7:05 pm. The Heroes were led last season by current Havoc Assistant Har Coach and Defensive Coordinator, Charles Gunnings. That game is tabbed as Florence1 Schools Night. The Havoc will offer the younger members of our pride discounted tickets for all of their hard work in the classroom.

Carolina will follow up that game the next week on Saturday, March 25 against their one of their newest foes, the Peach State Cats from Athens, Georgia. The theme for that game will be Beach Night. On Sunday, April 14, the Havoc square off against the High Country Grizzlies from Boone, North Carolina. The theme of the day is Faith, Family, and Football. We will conduct an interfaith service in the arena followed by a family tailgate and then the game.

On May 11, iHeartMEDIA Florence will present our Fight Cancer Night against our new foes in the upstate, South Carolina Predators. That will also be our first Shirt Off the Back Night. The jerseys that our players wear that night will be auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting Sista Strut. Our final league home game will be our Salute to Heroes Night. Our opponent for that night will be the Georgia Doom from Macon, Georgia. That night's game will be presented by Boy Scouts of America Pee Dee Area Council. Our players will play with red, white and blue football and it will also be our second Shirt Off The Back Night. Proceeds from that night's auction will be distributed to chosen charities that support first responders and families of those who have served in or are currently serving in the military.

We will also have two non-league games on Sunday, April 28 and Sunday, May 30. Those opponents will be announced at a later time. For tickets, call our offices today at (843) 603-1743 to reserve your tickets today!
