The West Virginia Roughriders have signed 6' 5" 300 lb defensive lineman B.J. McBryde for the 2019 season, the team announced Friday December 21st, 2018.
B.J. McBryde is a former defensive end for the University of Connecticut Huskies (2011-2014). After graduating, McBryde would get signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. After his time with the Eagles organization, McBryde would go onto join the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49er's, participating on their practice squads and finding numerous in-game opportunities. Most recently, B.J. McBryde was signed by arena football's Massachusetts Pirates of the National Arena League (NAL) where he played his 2018 season.
Now with the addition of McBryde, the Roughriders defensive line is beginning to take shape along with fellow defensive lineman and former WVU standout Larry Ford, the team is looking to control the trenches and solidify the defensive side of the ball. Roughriders Owner and General Manager, Gregg Fornario, is extremely happy to add such large piece to his already solid defensive core, "It's not often you come by a guy with B.J.'s size and skill level. He without a doubt, will help make our defensive line of the best in the league."
