The West Virginia Roughriders will return to the American Arena League for the 2019 season, the team announced on Friday, November 30th, 2018.
The Roughriders will return to the American Arena League as they embark on their first season playing at the WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia. The AAL is an east coast based league comprised of teams as south as the Carolinas and Georgia and stretching up into the northeast region of the country. The league schedule will be released in the near future as the first games are slated to begin in mid-March and run through early June as the playoffs approach.
West Virginia Roughriders Owner and General Manager, Gregg Fornario, is excited to return to a league which brought the Roughriders much competition in 2018. "We definitely have unfinished business", said Fornario, who's team (Richmond Roughriders) would go 11-2 overall in the AAL last year, losing in the league championship game to the Atlanta Havoc. "We are definitely excited to be back and play in the AAL, with much of the teams returning, we will be excited once again to compete for the AAL Championship."
With league officials hinting at a schedule release in the near future, the Roughriders organization will look forward to releasing season tickets and single game/group packages in time for the Christmas Holiday. All updated ticketing information and announcements for the 2019 season at the WesBanco Arena can be found on the West Virginia Roughriders Website and social medias.
