The West Virginia Roughriders have signed 6'4" defensive lineman Larry Ford for the 2019 season, the team announced on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
Ford, a former defensive lineman at West Virginia University (2008-2010), quickly became an arena all-star shortly after his football days at WVU. Soon after graduating, Ford would go onto get recruited and play for teams such as the PIFL's Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, The AFL's Orlando Predators and Cleveland Gladiators, and the NAL's High Country Grizzlies. Most recently, Ford played for the Atlanta Havoc of the American Arena League (AAL) in which he was granted Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors and awarded Defensive MVP in the 2018 AAL Championship game.
The West Virginia Roughriders Owner and General Manager, Gregg Fornario, cannot express enough how excited he is to have such a player of Ford's skill set and power on the defensive line. "The Roughriders know all about Larry Ford" Fornario said, "We had to play him in the league championship game last year while he was with the Atlanta Havoc, total beast".
